Republicans in the Ohio legislature introducee legislation today that would virtually outlaw abortion in Ohio.
Called the Ohio Human Heartbeat Protection Act—or the “Heartbeat Bill,” it would ban abortions once there is evidence that a fetus has a heartbeat, which can be detected as early as 18 days for some women, and by six weeks for most. The bill is the brainchild of state Rep. Lynn Wachtmann (R-Napoleon) into the 129th General Assembly. Read more.
The bill joins other anti-abortion legislation already pending in the Ohio House.
