Angela Davis coming to EJ March 28

Angela Davis is coming to the University of Akron. She’ll be at E.J. Thomas Hall March 28 at 7:30 p.m. as part of Women’s History Month events.

Her topic will be “Democracy and Civil Engagement,” and her appearance is sponsored by UA’s Women’s Studies Program, the Office of Inclusion and Equity and E.J. Thomas.

I heard Angela speak at the National Women’s Studies Association conference last fall, and she was amazing. The crowd who came to hear her packed the room, and the energy in that room was palpable.

So I am looking forward to hearing her again, and I am hoping that I and my students in the Special Topic class I’ll be teaching, She’s a Rebel: Women and Resistance, will be able to meet her as well.

Meanwhile, I stumbled upon an interview with her on Jezebel in which she shares her thoughts about seeing her famous face on T-shirts.
