Women’s History Month writes women back into history

“Writing Women Back Into History” is the theme for Women’s History Month at The University of Akron this year.

Events hosted by the UA Women’s Studies Program begin March 2 with singer Catie Curtis at E.J. Thomas Hall at 7:30 p.m. They will end March 31 with an appearance by New York poet and performer Staceyann Chin at 7 p.m. in the Student Union Theatre. Chin’s appearance is co-sponsored by Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority.

In between those two events, Lilly Ledbetter, the voice of pay equity, will speak at the

Student Union Theatre at 7 p.m. March 10.

Events sponsored by other university organizations — from the Women Trailblazers Panel on March 4 to the Third Biannual Graduate Gender Symposium March 31 and April 1 — are scheduled throughout the month as well.
